The slightest bit of darkness

The slightest bit of darkness
and the crickets chirp
the owl hoots
the air cools
It is not dark yet
but soon darkness comes
I wonder how easy the animals sleep
Do they stir at every sound?
Do there thoughts race like mine?
Or do they sleep peacefully
in acceptance, faith - a grounded reality.
I believe they sleep in utter knowing,
Transcendence.
I feel it too, often, when I am out there
with them.
An embodied and glorious acceptance.
Nature is beautiful
and strange.
As some animals sleep,
Others become more alive.
Seeing much clearer at night
In the low light and darkness.
They are our teachers.
To be in the presence of something wild
is a chance to listen
and speak
in the language of all things.
